2014: A Year In Review At Seamless
What a year 2014 has been! The Seamless team has been all over the world, met some amazing people and we could not be prouder of our line of products. It’s important at this time of the year to look back and take stock of everything that has been achieved and examine where we can do better in the future. You’ve been an essential part of the Seamless story so join us as we take a close look at 2014.
Conventions And Trade Shows.
Without a doubt one of the major highlights of 2014 for us was getting to meet so many wonderful and talented photographers. No matter where we went, we were met with smiles and open arms.
2014 got off to a great start as we travelled across the Atlantic to attend and exhibit at Imaging USA in Phoenix, Arizona. Being one of the biggest conferences for photographers in the world we were pleasantly surprised at how friendly the atmosphere was. Despite the thousands of attendees, everyone we met genuinely was interested in hearing about the Seamless story and our line of products. By far the biggest draw was the Seamless Eclipse Folio Box that reminded so many photographers about the benefits of showing clients prints and the work of Padraic Deasy and Craig LaMere that was on display definitely showed off the Eclipse Folio Box in the best light.
PPOC in Winnipeg, Canada was more like meeting old friends than a business engagement. Just before our trip to Canada we had worked tirelessly to make sure that we had a dedicated Canadian online store up and running with free shipping on folio and backdrop products. Boy, was this appreciated by Canadian photographers! Everyone we met had already heard about us, was familiar with the Be Inspired Blog and had a list of questions about Seamless products. Not only that but our new friends were most interested in the concept behind Seamless, that we were photographers offering solutions for photographers! Due to the nature of social media, there were just as many questions about what we were offering as there were about what we were shooting ourselves!
After two trips across the Atlantic, it was time to focus on home. This opportunity arose through the Photovision Roadshows in both the UK and Ireland. At every show it was the same, old and new photographers that were there to both see what the industry had to offer and also catch up with old friends. From our point of view, it was wonderful to meet so many people that we had been in contact with before, either through email or our LiveChat service. Again, a single theme appeared in that photographers that knew of Seamless had the opportunity to get hands-on with the products that they had been pouring over on their screens. It was so reassuring to know that even at the smaller shows there is a wealth of knowledge out there that is only going to contribute to the photographic industry.
Emily Soto Seminar And The Eleanor Muslin Backdrop.
It’s not everyday that you get to meet a living legend and it’s even rarer to get to work with one and find out that they are just as professional, talented and friendly as they appear to be. For us getting to know Emily Soto over the past 12 months and launching the Eleanor Muslin Backdrop with her was a dream come through. The Eleanor Muslin Backdrop is now one of our best-selling products and that is largely due to the fact that it embodies much of what makes Emily Soto special. Photographers love the heavy-duty muslin, the hand-painted design and the fact that Emily Soto uses the backdrop herself in real-world shoots!
There was an extra treat in store for Seamless fans when it was announced that Emily Soto was going to be giving a seminar in Dublin and demonstrating a live shoot along with her entire workflow for attendees. You can read a full review of the Emily Soto Seminar but lets just say that it was one of the highlights of the year for us and for everyone that attended. To see a master at work, while shooting film no less, was truly inspiring and something none of us shall forget anytime soon.
Be Inspired Blog And Podcast.
The Be Inspired Blog is one of the gems in the Seamless crown. It is a labour of love that really gets to the bottom of what Seamless is all about. We want to inspire photographers to reach their full potential and we can think of no better way of doing that than by showcasing the work of some of the best photographers on the planet. Every single week we interviewed a new photographer for Seamless Spotlight and got an insight into that makes them tick. By far, this is the most popular thing that customers talk to us about when we meet them in person. They are so happy that we are out there, talking to photographers from all walks of life and showing others what’s possible. It’s also very comforting for our readers to know that even the biggest names still worry and think about the same issues that new photographers do.
We are always trying to make things better here at Seamless. That is why we took the Seamless Spotlight interviews a step further and we launched the Seamless Be Inspired Photography Podcast. With only two episodes under our belt so far, there is still a wealth of information there to be mined. We start recording more episodes as soon as we get back in January so stay tuned for more from the Be Inspired Photography Podcast. We have some amazing photographers lined up.
New Seamless Products.
We can’t look back at 2014 without examining our line of new products. We really owe much of these developments to you, the Seamless community, as you have been so giving with your time offering us feedback and suggestions.
This year alone we launched the Eleanor Muslin Backdrop designed by Emily Soto, the Impressions Muslin Backdrop designed by Marcus Bell, the Harmony USB Presentation Box and the Baroque USB Presentation Box. This list does not include a line of other photo equipment or camera accessories that, to be honest, are too numerous to mention.
We want to truly thank you the feedback as it led to some refined options in our products such as new colours in our USB Key Folios, different matte sizes for the Eclipse Folio Box and a more contemporary design for our other folios. We’ve been taking note of other suggestions and let’s just say that we have plenty up our sleeves for 2015.
Happy New Year From Seamless.
As 2014 draws to a close we look toward the next 12 months with unbridled optimism and excitement. We’ve made some mistakes along the way but we have learned from them and we could not be happier with where things are going.
From all the Seamless team, allow us to wish you the happiest and healthiest New Year and we look forward to seeing you in 2015.
Let’s see what you can do…
The Seamless Team.
